Terms of Service

Draft — last updated September 1, 2026. Not final legal advice.

This is a placeholder for the beta — have it reviewed by a lawyer before wide release, along with the Privacy Policy.

Beta software

Tape is in beta. Features may change or break, and we may need to reset data occasionally during this period. Don't rely on it as your only record of a meeting.

Your responsibility to record lawfully

You are responsible for complying with recording-consent laws wherever you use Tape. Many places require you to tell everyone in a meeting that it's being recorded before you start; some require their explicit consent. Tape is a tool — it doesn't grant you legal permission to record anyone.

Acceptable use

Don't use Tape to record people without a lawful basis to do so, to harass or surveil someone, or to violate another person's privacy rights.

No warranty

Tape's notes, transcripts, and summaries are generated automatically and may contain errors. Don't rely on them for decisions where accuracy is critical without checking the original recording.

EU/UK consumers

If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, nothing here limits statutory rights you can't waive by contract, including rights under EU/UK consumer protection law and your right to withdraw from a distance contract where applicable. EU users can also access the EU's Online Dispute Resolution platform for e-commerce complaints; the governing law and dispute-resolution terms below still need to be finalized with counsel for cross-border enforceability.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
